The future of policing accountability - learning the lessons

Events - Public

Starting 17 Oct 2014 - 11:00 through to 17 Oct 2014 - 17:00

Our third national Police and Crime Panels conference  provides an opportunity for Panel members, Panel support officers and other colleagues working in the fields to consider the lessons of Police and Crime Commissioner and Police and Crime Panel arrangements as we move into the run-up to the General Election in 2015. By October the parties will have given further indications as to their thinking on police accountability. The conference will therefore offer the opportunity to feed the lessons from the last two years into the main parties’ policy-makers. Key speaker in the morning session will be Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire PCC.

The afternoon session of the conference will continue its established practice of delivering practical and topical practitioner-led workshops in the afternoon session to help PCP members and support officers to develop their roles.

Given the importance of community safety partnerships’ work - and that resources for CSPs are likely to continue shrinking, whichever party leads the next government – one of the workshops is focused on how CSPs and local Crime and Disorder OSCs can develop effective working relationships with PCPs to strengthen work across the board.
