Preparing for the 2015 Elections

Events - Public

Starting 10 Dec 2014 - 09:20 through to 10 Dec 2014 - 16:00

The May 2015 UK General Election and local elections also taking place in some parts of England, will present great challenges for all those involved in administering both the elections and the electoral registration system. Our Preparing for 2015 Elections conference is timed to enable you to meet the major changes ahead.

Attend to ensure that you are ready to deal with increasing voter turnout, the new registration system and the higher degree of scrutiny due to the number of very closely fought contests in your constituency.

This timely event draws together key organisations and experts to provide in-depth insight into overcoming these challenges, as well as implementing the practical lessons learnt from the 2014 local and European Parliament Elections.

Expert speakers:

  • Keynote: Gary Streeter MP, Speaker’s Committee on the Electoral Commission
  • Chair: Rt Hon lord Tyler, House of Lords and Member, Electoral Commission's Parliamentary Advisory Group
  • Nicholas Paines QC, Law Commissioner with Responsibility for Public Law, Law Commission
  • Mark Heath, Regional Returning Officer for the South East and Director of Corporate Services, Southampton City Council
  • Christine Fisher, Chief Executive and Returning Officer, North West Leicestershire District Council
  • Hugh Peart, Returning Officer and Director of Legal and Governance Services, Harrow Council
