As part of the conference’s Sustainable Cities strand, STEP UP will hold two sessions on sustainable energy planning for cities:

The first session, held on the first day of the conference, will feature political representatives from the four STEP UP cities who will share their experiences as local leaders championing the sustainable and smart cities agenda. They will reflect on the importance of local political support for successful Sustainable Energy Action Plans, the common barriers to gaining this support, and solutions and strategies to overcome these that could be adopted by other cities.

The second session will focus on STEP UP cities’ experiences of working on the STEP UP project, including project approaches and outcomes, the cities’ enhanced SEAPs and best practice projects, and next steps. The cities will also discuss the key lessons learned during the STEP UP project, and offer guidance and advice for other cities focused on sustainable city planning.

The sessions will feature presentations, as well as time for questions, discussion and networking opportunities.
