 #APMstrategy

The OpenStrategies system makes strategy words and statements meaningful. It does this by introducing; logic, discipline, and clear standards to the language of strategy.

Getting strategy right is key to achieving a shared understanding of business problems. In short, OpenStrategies significantly increases the chances of project or programme success.

Validating strategies: The OpenStrategies system includes the validating strategies process which is built on the logical sequence of what organisations actually do i.e. ‘Organisations run projects that produce results and enable people to see them to create benefits’ [PRUB]

Validating strategies is a simple yet powerful tool for guiding projects to produce results that will be used to create benefits.

It provides a robust framework which enables practitioners with the tools and know-how to; collaboratively develop, validate, implement and performance-manage [including ‘benefits realisation’] large-scale, multi-stakeholder, multi-topic strategies.

In short, where the project management profession adopts validating strategies to address gaps in strategic thinking and benefits logic it will further increase the value which emerges from managed projects.

Session Focus
This introductory session will focus on the interface between strategy and project/programme management. Participants will bring their own small strategic issues to the course and build them into relevant and effective ‘sub-strategies’.

Introductory modules include:

  • why many strategies fail
  • what organisations actually do
  • strategy linguistics: taxonomy, syntax and semantics
  • the crucial importance of understanding ‘uses’
  • creating and validating sub-strategies
