Flood Resilient Communities Evaluating Defra Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder

A Partnership event between CIWEM, DefraNational Flood Forum (NFF) and Collingwood Environmental Planning.

Why attend?

This conference will be the first opportunity for Risk Management Authorities to hear the key lessons learned from the Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder projects on working with communities to improve flood resilience.

Join us in December to:

  • Understand how communities can improve their own flood resilience
  • Hear about good practice and the very wide range of Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder projects
  • Discuss the key lessons learned from the projects
  • Learn how Risk Management Authorities can engage effectively with communities as part of managing risk
  • Discuss in person with communities the detail of their projects in a marketplace session

What is the Defra's Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder Initiative?

From April 2013 to March 2015, the programme sought to develop innovative local solutions by enabling and stimulating flood risk communities to work with key partners, including local authorities, to:

  • Enhance flood risk management and preparedness in ways which quantifiably improve the community's overall resilience;
  • Demonstrably improve the community's financial resilience in relation to flooding;
  • Deliver sustained improvements which have the potential to be applied in other areas.
