In 2016/17 the Money Advice Service aims to contribute up to £7m to fund and evaluate programmes and pilots across the UK to deepen understanding of what types of interventions can make a real difference to people’s financial capability. In June we will be holding a series of events to mark the launch of a ‘What Works’ financial capability fund.

In allocating this funding, the Money Advice Service will be guided by the priorities already identified by the Financial Capability Strategy, across the UK and in each devolved nation. Mas is interested in the evaluation of existing interventions designed to help people to improve their financial capability, and also in the funding of analysis into existing interventions that could be proved to be scalable. A third area of priority is the piloting of new, innovative approaches to engage and help people improve their financial capability. The events will go into detail about criteria for applications and next steps and will allow time for a Q&A.

There will be an event in Edinburgh on Thursday 9th June 2pm – 3.30pm held at Young Scot and also one in Glasgow on Friday 10th June, 1pm – 2.30 pm, held at Money Advice Scotland.
