Can small changes make a big difference?  Applying behavioural insights to public services

featuring

Simon Ruda

Director of Home Affairs and International Programmes, Behavioural Insights Team

What are ‘behavioural insights’? How can it improve public services?

Seemingly inconsequential adaptations to the design and implementation of public services can lead to big impacts on behaviour, often at low cost.

Simon Ruda, Director for Home Affairs and International Programmes at the Behavioural Insights Team* – also known as the ‘Nudge Unit’ – will introduce ‘behavioural insights’ and talk through examples of where behavioural insights approaches to public service design led to improved outcomes…and where they didn’t.

* The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is a social purpose company which is jointly owned by the UK Government; Nesta (the innovation charity); and BIT employees
