In any project there will be risks and uncertainties. If the APM’s vision is for a world in which all projects succeed then to achieve this vision, understanding these risks and uncertainties and taking a proactive approach to dealing with them is surely essential – this is risk management.

At its heart, project management is about making the right decisions, at the right times. Understanding the risk dimension gives the project manager a fighting chance at delivering the sacred ‘time, cost and performance’, and perhaps making sure those targets are realistic before commitments are made and before stakeholders get set with unrealistic expectations.

Of course there’s always the upside to consider.  For every threat to your project there may be an opportunity waiting to be exploited.  Effective risk management is a key discipline in helping your organisation avoid over-cautious and risk adverse behaviours, and might just give you the edge you need to succeed.

This webinar will introduce risk management, key principles and practices, and will be suitable for those new to risk management in projects. The content is aimed for the non-specialist, or beginners in risk management and will explain:
-What is a risk?
-What is uncertainty?
-What is risk management?
-How risk management fits into the project management toolkit?
-The ‘who’ of risk management.
-The benefits of risk management.
