How to successfully engage your stakeholders and build an unstoppable project team
How can those responsible for project delivery, with increasing internal and external demands, effectively engage their project's stakeholders?
Project managers often have:
-a demanding operational role to deliver in addition to their project work
-little hope of bringing busy people together to anything more than the occasional meeting
-a remote or absent project sponsor, to support them
-a project team of part-timers with their main focus on their 'day job'
-team members and other stakeholders working in different locations and time zones
As a result, projects often stumble along through a blizzard of confused and disengaged stakeholders, either falling by the wayside or arriving late and weary at destination descope.
Seldom do projects begin with a long, considered look through the lens of the stakeholder. Alas! Process is king so we need to tick all the boxes, concoct a business case (that everyone will naturally buy-into!) and get the show on the road!
In this practical session Laurence Davidson will help delegates gain:
-greater understanding about human resistance to commitment and change
-ideas for building a 'working relationship' with their project sponsor
-some strategies for motivating the team
-tools and techniques for engaging stakeholders
And, above all, the session will demonstrate the central lesson for project managers: you will never make it alone.
