How do you manage the interests of stakeholders when delivering major projects?

Stakeholder management is a vital activity, even on the smallest of projects. The importance of this process is only amplified on major projects where there will be an increasing number of stakeholders along the project life-cycle. Keeping them all happy is key.

At this APM North East branch event, Huw Lewis will draw on his experience managing and communicating with stakeholders across six years of the Metro modernisation project in Newcastle.

Nexus, which owns the Tyne and Wear Metro, has invested more than £200m since 2010 in major renewal and modernisation projects. Successful, cost-effective delivery relies on working round the clock in densely populated residential communities, closing busy city stations, and keeping the passenger happy. Huw will offer insight into the detailed engagement process Nexus delivers to keep competing stakeholders happy, without disrupting programme delivery.

The key themes of the event include:

  • Conflict management
  • Leadership
  • Negotiation
  • Teamwork
