For many people release from prison is a crisis point.

They are leaving a supported and regimented environment where their needs (health, housing etc.) are met, to one with little or no support and uncertainties. Not only are they responsible for themselves, they may also have interrupted care pathways and are often without accommodation. They also tend to have low level self-seeking behavior and a distrust of statutory services linked to previous negative experiences, such as being taken into care.

This seminar will explore what this gap looks and feels like for those with

Lived Experience and also share their thoughts on how they have helped to co-produce the care after custody service RECONNECT* and the vision for the future .

*RECONNECT, starts working with people before they leave prison and helps them to make the transition to community-based services that will provide the health and care support that they need.
