People with care experience are overrepresented throughout the criminal justice system. Yet people who have been in care tell us that their needs are still not well understood.

It’s more than two years since the ground-breaking Care Experienced Conference took place in Liverpool, attended by over 160 people, who said what’s important to them and what needs to change.

The top 10 messages from the conference were turned into a Pledge to help organisations do better and in April this year Research in Practice brought together a range of people who had adopted the pledge to see what difference it has made.

In this, the first of two care experienced seminars, Alison will share lessons learned from a range of organisations and point towards what the justice system can do to better meet the needs of people with experience of the care system.
