Over the last 4 years HMPPS have been listening to people with care experience who reside in our prisons. We have used this and evidence from research to inform the HMPPS Strategy for Care Experienced People which aims to improve outcomes for those in our care.

This seminar will look at the messages from the 2019 Care Leavers Conference from the perspective of those in custody. It will consider to what extent the HMPPS Strategy encompasses the pledge developed from the conference and consider how this can be better used going forward.

Debbie will describe the work of the Prison Service, which aims to better understand and support those in custody with care experience, drawing from the messages set out in the pledge

Tassie will then reflect on her work and experiences and how the pledge relates to people in prison and Molly will be speaking specifically about older care experienced people in prison.
