The risk of violence against women and girls has been heightened during Covid-19 and so it is important to understand how different services have responded to victim-survivors of domestic abuse during lockdown and as restrictions ease.

This free seminar is based on a national survey of statutory sector safeguarding leads, in-depth interviews with victim-survivors of domestic abuse accessing help during the pandemic, domestic abuse specialist practitioners and safeguarding leads.

Our speakers will discuss the lull before the storm, increased volume and complexity of referrals, multi-agency working and losing sight of the children. They will also examine digital successes and exclusions, the ‘multiplier effect’, isolation and cultural bereavement.

Finally they will identify key recommendations to enhance domestic abuse safeguarding policy and practice in a post-Covid world and in future pandemics.
