Reflections on project management in a world where we need to go faster.

Phase one of the cross-Government programme centred around themes such as reform of planning and environmental regulations and more effective decision making. In addition, there were a number of ‘pathfinder’ projects, identified as acceleration priorities, which necessitated intensive working with senior stakeholders across Whitehall. The results of which were published in the National Infrastructure Strategy in November 2020, including a halving of the construction time of the A66 Trans-Pennine strategic road and a renewed commitment to reopening ‘Beeching rail lines’.

This session is a reflection on the tools and techniques that Kerry has seen and used first-hand, that can be used to achieve greater pace in projects. The session will also examine the pitfalls to avoid and techniques to mitigate risk when you are working on a project where speed is of the essence.
