The Project Sponsor – who are they and what do they do?

Events - Public

Starting 08 Nov 2022 - 18:00 through to 08 Nov 2022 - 21:00

Project management is about getting things done through people. Stakeholder Engagement helps us understand WHAT people involved with a project want, and HOW to engage them to help achieve project success.

A major factor in the failure of projects is caused by lack of early Project Sponsor identification and engagement. During this interactive session we will look at who the Project Sponsor is, what their role is within the project lifecycle, and discuss methods of engagement.

The Stakeholder Engagement Focus Group (SEFG) is part of the People SIG. Their goal is to increase the awareness across the project management community about the importance of stakeholder engagement, including that of the project sponsor, and to provide guidance in this area. This is being achieved by the SEFG sharing their knowledge at CPD events and by providing material within the People SIG area of the APM website.

This will be an interactive event with delegate participation throughout.

Benefits of attending: An opportunity to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the Project Sponsor and where they fit it the project team.
