Events - Public

Starting 07 Dec 2022 - 18:00 through to 07 Dec 2022 - 20:30

Today's project managers face diverse challenges, however, most of these hiccups can be solved by proper data collection. This discussion is aimed at enlightening PMs from all spectrums of experience and expertise on the role of data in ensuring prompt and consistent deliveries. More so, attendees would be properly apprised on the necessity of applying the right data in the monitoring and control of projects. Projects Measurement metrics, Data measures and other functional tools that can be applied in the tracking of projects would be appropriated. In addition, this discussion would explore some challenges faced by project teams when tracking data and proffer ways they can be mitigated.

The statistics behind the rate of project failures is one of grave concern. According to an article by Teamstage, 70% of all projects fail to deliver what was promised to customers and these drawbacks can no longer be ignored.

With the emergence of Data as a beacon of light to the darkness of Project failures. The need for data as a tool for Project Control and Monitoring has never been more paramount.

Employing data rightfully has been found to offer PMs practical assistance in tracking project processes against plan, therefore eradicating the uncertainties in decision-making stages and furnishing stakeholders with the needed confidence of protected interest, particularly for the client(s).

Additionally, Data also proves valuable in effective work scheduling, efficient resource allocation, overall increased project efficiency, cost minimization, and most importantly project risk management.

This discussion is spearheaded by James Lea (FAPM, FBCS), the Visionary Mind behind “Project Science”, a business focused immensely on predictive and prescriptive analytics - tools that help predict and control the future. Hosted by APM Midland branch, this event centres upon the use of the right data measures and tools to ensure projects are on track by the control and monitoring of various segments.

The CPD Event which commences at 18:00 on Thursday, 8th December 2022 promises to be an audience-engaged presentation. A hybrid approach has been employed as participation could be in person or remote. The event would conclude with a Q/A segment.
