Local heat strategies: Practical learning from pioneer cities

Events - Public

Starting 12 Dec 2022 - 13:00 through to 12 Dec 2022 - 16:30

Join us for an afternoon where we will discuss ways to accelerate city heat transitions with local governments, housing associations, and researchers, as well as our guest speaker Jess Britton.

This public event will share learnings from the SHIFFT Project and discuss how they might support cities in creating and implementing a strategy to decarbonise their buildings and heat system. Cities face a challenge in that the heat transition demands action at the local level, but local governments often have constrained capacity to take action. Local government will need powers and resource from higher levels, but this event is focused on making the most of the levers available to local government now.

We will explore and discuss how to govern effectively, develop policy, co-create successfully with citizens, and experiment through pilot projects.

A new Guide to the Heat Transition for Local Government will also be launched - this 4-part best practice resource can be accessed online here: https://shifftproject.eu/publications/

This event is organised as part of the SHIFFT Project, funded by Interreg 2 Seas.
