MONEY GUIDERS ENGLAND IN PERSON EVENT MANCHESTER 14 MARCH 2024, 10.15-15.30
About this event:
Are you helping people in your community or through your role with money problems? Do you have experience of facing barriers to receive money guidance yourself?
In this day-long event we will take part in workshops to share good practice in overcoming barriers to good practice in money guidance.
Together we will work on identifying barriers, coming up with solutions and we will make sure that giving the best guidance we can and we know when and where to signpost to specialist advice.
As well as hearing from speakers, we will be encouraging participants to share their own examples challenges we face and of good practice, so that through this Money Guiders England Network event we all experience being part of a living community of practice.
W e hope that participants will come away with new ideas to try out, awareness of steps to take to overcome some barriers and will feel further supported in their work.
There will be plenty of opportunities for networking and getting to know our fellow money guidance practitioners.
Please note that this in person event is limited to 100 participants so please book early to guarantee your place. If you find that you cannot come after all, please let us know so that we can offer your place to someone else.

Money Guidance Competency Framework
Technical domain section 1, Knowing Your Customer
This domain is about understanding who the customer is and their needs – which they may or may not be aware of – and draws on many of the cross-cutting behaviours and skills that underpin practice. It requires the practitioner to develop an understanding of their customers, including background, circumstances, expectations and goals.

Money Guiders
Developing skills. Sharing understanding. Improving lives.
Money Guiders is a learning and development programme provided by the Money and Pensions Service. It includes the UK Money Guiders Network – a growing community, connecting all types of money guidance practitioners. The idea is simple: we can all learn from each other and develop professionally together. As part of the Money Guiders Network, you’ll have access to free resources, events and learning opportunities based around your needs. There’s a dedicated network in each of the four UK nations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland) and we all work together to deliver a wide range of useful activities, so you can take your help further.
Check out full details of the money guiders programme on the Money and Pensions Service website: www.maps.org.uk/money-guiders or you can email the Money and Pensions Service about the programme at money.guiders@maps.org.uk
