Who we are

iNetwork is a public sector partnership that helps local public service organisations to innovate and thereby provide effective support for their users, patients and communities.

Established in 2001 by local authorities, we have been hosted by Tameside Council since 2006 and have a strong history of enabling and supporting reform and improvement local public services. Working across many areas of the government and social sectors we effectively upskill leaders, share best practice and facilitate collaborative thinking spaces.

A large number of councils, police, fire, transport, housing and health organisations across the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber are members of iNetwork. In addition we run national programmes for Central Government and host the national information standards body for local government, iStandUK.

Why collaborate?

Collaborating in peer communities is more relevant than ever. Innovations spread faster through peer networks than through media. Almost all good ideas come from the meetings of minds. Inwardly facing organisations are destined to develop more slowly than those that are outwardly facing. iNetwork helps by running over 50+ events a year that are managed as “safe spaces for difficult conversation”. We also source solutions to problems  and engage with Government Departments on behalf of the membership to, a) ask them to explain what they’re doing b) ask them to do it differently.
