Case study

This session provided a deep dive into the utilisation of data and analytics across various public sector services, highlighting the critical role of data in shaping strategies, enhancing service delivery, and addressing specific community needs.

Some of the case studies mentioned highlighted the power of data. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) explored the use of data to prevent accidental dwelling fires, focusing on identifying risk factors and vulnerable groups within the community to tailor fire safety interventions effectively.
A Healthcare Pilot Project in collaboration with Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board and Essex County Council, aimed to utilize NHS data to identify individuals over 65 who might benefit from preventative care, thereby reducing the likelihood of hospital admissions.
The Digital Exclusion project, aimed at identifying residents at risk of being digitally excluded due to the shift of services online. This project was pivotal in identifying vulnerable groups and planning targeted interventions to ensure equitable access to digital services.
Each case study illuminated the process from identifying a problem, gathering and analysing relevant data, to developing solutions and interventions. These examples underscored the potential of data to inform better decision-making and resource allocation, improve service delivery, and directly impact residents' lives.
