This is a presentation from 2017 at the Annual Analytics Summit by Jonathan Roberts at the Ministry of Justice.  Jonathan is the Head of Data Science Hub at the MoJ and leads a multi-disciplinary team of around 20 data scientists with a remit to bring use the wide ranging data science toolkit to solve some of MoJ’s thorniest problems.  This presentation describes the work of the MoJ data analytics team and explains the challenges and approaches they have taken to increase capability, improve processes and bring the department's work into the 21st century.
