Scanning LDF representations

In the spirit of e-planning, my Council has recently adopted an electronic filling system whereby all paper correspondence received by the section is scanned and then securely disposed of. The scanned version is saved for future reference. Having read through the 2004 regulations, there does not appear to be any requirement to hold on to original paper copies of representations received by the Council in relation to the LDF once they have been scanned. I've sought advice from Government Office to see if we are required to hold onto original copies of representations, but they were unable to help. Has anyone else considered this issue? Many thanks.
