Effective and reasoned decision-making based on clear
evidence is essential in all aspects of planning. A well structured
resource exists to support the sustainable
development of the historic environment.

The course introduces some of the main resources and builds some
essential skills to help apply them in development management. A
series of case studies and exercises demonstrate the applications of
heritage information in planning and highlight the value of taking an
evidence led approach.

The course is aimed at local authority planning officers and
postgraduate heritage professionals currently working in the sector.
Skills introduced are essential for development managers, strategic
planners, and those looking to establish a grounding in planning for the
historic environment.
