Counter intuitively, they finds that increasing the span of people's business networks to increase the spread of knowledge across organizations may ultimately result in less-effective knowledge sharing. Instead, his research suggests that best practices and complex ideas are more readily integrated across large organizations if social ties to departments and work groups are preserved.
