INTRODUCING UDiTE's NEW ITALIAN ASSOCIATION UNSCP 

UNSCP was set up over 70 years ago, has over 800 members throughout Italy and is the most representative trade union for municipal and provincial secretaries, the top administrative actor in local authorities.

NEW COHESION REPORT REVEALS THE IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC ON LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORITIES 

The European Commission published the 8th Cohesion Report on 9 February, presenting a first picture of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic at the local and regional level. It also shows both positive and negative trends in EU regions, cities and rural areas.

UDiTE PRESIDENT ATTENDED THE 9th EUROPEAN SUMMIT OF REGIONS AND CITIES

UDiTE President, Stephane Pintre, has attended one of the most important territorial meetings of the French EU Presidency calendar. The 9th European Summit of Cities and Regions took place in Marseille last week on 3rd and 4th  March 2022 where Stéphane was supported by Simon Pascoe and Xavier Boivert. Attended by over 3000 local and regional representatives, the Summit agenda was rapidly refocused in light of the Ukrainian crisis.

AN INTRODUCTION TO UDITE MEMBERS FROM THE ROMANIAN FEDERATION  AAPRO

The Association of City Managers in Romania (AAPRO) was set up in 2010, as a way of continuing with sustainable activities following the successful implementation of the project “Public administrator – success factor for an efficient management at local level” carry out by the Central Unit for Public Administration Reform, a structure within the Romanian Ministry of Administration and home office.

A NEW DEPARTURE FOR OUR LUXEMBOURG MEMBER ASSOCIATION

The Association of Municipal Secretaries of Luxembourg has made a new start.

2022 : AN INTRODUCTION FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Since January this year, France now holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for a period of six months. So it is a happy coincidence that I now have the honour of presiding over UDiTE, our European association of territorial leaders, which gives us a new opportunity to raise the profile of UDITE on a European level.

UDiTE ACTION PLAN 2022 - 2024 APPROVED 

On Friday 25th February, the UDiTE Executive Committee held its first meeting in 2022. Let's hope that this will be the last virtual meeting and that we can all meet in person next time.

UDiTE  MEETS  THE FRENCH SECTION OF CEMR (AFCCRE)

Stephane Pintre, UDITE President and Simon Pascoe (UDiTE Brussels representative) met in Paris on 16th February with Christophe Chaillou the Chief Executive of the AFCCRE. 

DISCOVER  'TERRI' CEMR'S NEW ONLINE TOOL MAPPING TERRITORIAL REFORMS AND POWERS IN EUROPE 

How is Europe's complex of local and regional governments evolving? How have the responsibilities of municipalities, counties and regions changed in recent years, marked by environmental and health crises? What examples of successful territorial reforms can inspire others? To answer these questions, the CEMR has published a new digital report entitled, ‘Territorial Governance, Powers and Reforms in Europe’, or TERRI Report for short.

UDiTE AT 30 - PRESIDENCY TRANSFERS FROM MALTA TO FRANCE

During the Metz conference, members of the UDiTE Governing Council saw the presidency of UDiTE transfer from Malta to France.

PRESIDENTIAL REPORT 2019-2021

Paul Gatt, the outgoing President of UDITE, presented the achievements of the 2019-2021 presidency in the form of a report to the UDiTE Governing Council.

Two new members were welcomed to UDiTE during the conference in Metz: The UNSCP (Unione Nazionale de Segretari Communali e Provinziale) of Italy was welcomed as a new member.

THE FRENCH PRESIDENCY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION - 1ST JANUARY - 30TH JUNE 2022

On the 1st January 2022, for the first time in 14 years, France will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

EIGHTH EU ACTION PLAN FOR ENVIRONMENTAL: LAW UNTIL 2030 ADOPTED

The 8th Environmental Action Plan (8EAP) was adopted by Member States and the European Parliament on 10th December 2021 will serve as a guide for environmental and climate policymaking and implementation until 2030.

Every year, the EU Committee of the Regions in conjunction with the European Commission (DG REGIO) organises the European Week of Regions and Cities.

IRELAND TO RECEIVE €920.4 MILLION FOR BREXIT IMPACTS

The European Commission has adopted the decision to allocate funding from the Brexit Adjustment Reserve to Ireland, for a total of €920.4 million. Ireland is the biggest beneficiary of the Brexit Adjustment Reserve and the first Member State to receive its pre-financing.

MINISTERS ADOPT THE LJUBLIANA AGREEMENT ON THE URBAN AGENDA FOR THE EU

On the 26th November, the Slovenian Presidency secured a landmark agreement between EU Ministers responsible for Urban Development in the form of the Ljubljana Agreement to commit to the continuation of the Urban Agenda for the EU.

IS YOUR CITY READY TO JOIN THE EU MISSION ON CLIMATE NEUTRAL CITIES?

" EU missions" is a new initiative that has been launched by the European Commission on 29th September 2021. A call for expression of interest is open until 31st January 2022 to recruit 150 cities across the European Union.

TheMayor.EU - the European portal for cities and citizens aims to improve understanding and cohesion between EU citizens, local authorities and the European institutions.
