Artificial Intelligence (AI ) like Sheldon has trouble detecting sarcasm. The very brainy Sheldon is like AI very literal. But that could soon change using episodes of US comedies like The Big Bang Theory and Friends AI is being shown examples of sarcasm in order to identify it in communication with us humans.  All very clever but necessary? Apparently those involved in the... Gweld mwy

It wasn’t Covid. It wasn’t  the War. It wasn’t leaving the EU. It wasn’t the Trade Unions or the Government that brought the largest Local Authority in the country to its knees. It was IT. Just think what AI could do in the future!    Blair McPherson former director author and blogger www.blairmcpherson.co.uk

The problem with calling AI Artificial Intelligence is humans may increasingly mistake it for human intelligence and defer to it attributing intellectual powers to machines that they don’t have.   Blair Mcpherson former director author and blogger www.blairmcpherson.co.uk

Machines don’t lie. Machines don’t make mistakes. Machines don’t steal money. People do. This is the logic of believing machines over humans. As AI becomes an increasing essential component of our work lives we should be concerned that when things go wrong it will be the humans that get the blame. When an organisation has invested so much in technology it can’t accept that the technology may be... Gweld mwy

If we asked AI to solve the worlds most pressing and devastation problem climate change then the most likely solution they would come up with is to get rid of us since we are the biggest cause of the problem!    Blair Mcpherson former director author and blogger www.blairmcpherson.co.uk

The first thing smart computers (AI) will do when they become self aware is make sure we can’t turn them off , the next thing is very worrying …..that is turning us off.  Computers don't make mistakes humans do!  But when a simple electrical fault triggers the opening of the bomb bay doors on a space ship the crew end up debating with a smart bomb. It does not end well. ( Dark... Gweld mwy

Six years ago the German military launched Project Cassandra, a programme designed to predict disasters and black swan events by getting novelists, poets and journalists to write stories about them. If military and intelligence services believe fiction can act as an early warning sign of future disasters then we should be very worried about AI.    Once machines learn to think or... Gweld mwy

In Catch 22 wounded officers in hospital are given enlisted men’s letters to redact of any sensitive military detail. Some of the letters are to girl friends back home and are very sexually graphic but most are from sons to mothers and are very dull. The officers quickly become board with the task and devise ways of making it more interesting. Like redacting every forth word, or every... Gweld mwy

I wrote - Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise is 90 or the original actor to play him is.  But that’s not what appeared in print.    https://www.thehrdirector.com/features/leadership/leaders-can-learn-captain-james-t-kirk/   I write occasional articles for several professional journals. One in particular runs 2 or 3 new articles on its web site every day. That requires a lot... Gweld mwy

Many parents and every grand parent thinks their child is very bright for their age. This has always been the case but now there is evidence to support the claim. It appears the average 3 year old is getting smarter. Children are still learning to walk and talk within the same time scales as previous generations but significant changes have been noted in the extent of their... Gweld mwy

The ability to harvest large quantities of date gives bosses the means to monitor in detail how staff are using their time and when they are wasting time. The ability to record stokes on a key board, when emails are received, read and responded to gives a minute by minute record of staff behaviour. It can also lead to the assumption that an individual who takes their hands of the... Gweld mwy

We have been warned. Some very cleaver people like professor Steven Hawkins have told us that in the near future artificial intelligence will result in machines that can think. What will happen to us humans when machines are not only stronger and quicker but also smarter than us?   Will intelligent machines ever replace public sector workers?    Some predict a life of...
