time extensions for permissions - will they have to pay CIL?

Hi, I believe that any permission granted before a charging schedule is brought into effect will not be caught by the need to pay CIL. This applies to reserved matters applications if the outline is already granted, but doesn't apply applications to vary a condition. What will be the status for applications to extend the time period of an existing (pre-CIL) permission, with all other aspects remaining the same? thanks, Lora

Re: time extensions for permissions - will they have to pay CIL?

I'd have to check the regs in detail to be sure, but since a time extension creates a new planning permission (just like a variation of condition does) it will be subject to CIL. A reserved matters application isn't a planning application of course, which is presumably the specific reason why CIL wouldn't apply.
