Sport England Facilities Calculator and S106 Contributions - Public forum - Planning Advisory Service (PAS)

Not aware of limitations on Calculator use. In Bracknell Forest SPD for impact mitigation (s106) conributions, the Calculator is an element to justify seeking S106 contributions. So not used 'in isolation' but used in conjuction with Sport England 2001 Good practice guide on providing for sport & recreation through new housing development & BFC's own (in partnership with Sport England) 2007 needs study for sports hall & swimming pools.

The issue I have encountered recently is where contributions have been requested based on figures derived from the calculator but without any further justification / evidence in the form of a local needs assessment, facilities survey or up to date policy. The guidance on the use of the calculator states that it only considers demand for facilities and does not take into account existing supply. Therefore without this further evidence, surely the requests would not pass the tests set out in the regs?
