The County and Borough Councils in Cheshire will be replaced from 1 April 2009 by two new Unitary Councils. Part of Cheshire County Council; Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council; Vale Royal Borough Council and Chester City Council will merge to create Cheshire West and Chester. An LDF group has been set up to look at the delivery of the planning programme for the new Council. The new Council has also been awarded monies in relation to the Growth Fund. Core Strategy requirements are being very tightly scheduled. Work has commenced. Reg 25 is anticipated between June/Dec 09; publication Feb 2010; submission June 2010 and adoption May 2011. Given the changes to Reg 25 consultation, we are looking to see if there is any best practice on moving documents forward quickly, not necessarily using the original Issues and Options and Preferred Options route. Does anyone have any good examples of what could be undertaken or even events that were originally considered visionary/innovative, but didn’t work well in practice? Any advice would be welcomed.
