Sustainable Development definition

With a consultation draft of the definition of sustainable development due to be published today, why not come up with your own definition to share here? 10 PAS points to the person who gets closest to DCLGs version.

No idea what DCLG is thinking...but...I'll have a go at a definition of my own... "Quality development (objective or subjective) which meets the needs of today but has the capability to adapt to the needs of future generations in the most resource efficient way possible. Development which satisfies genuine needs, not wants". Now...don't ask me how we agree on what a genuine 'need' is...or how we agree on it!

Oh...I forgot to mention...the same applies to reaching agreement on a definition of 'quality'...
