That is a simplified version of the government’s attempt to take back power from doctors. It has parallels with local government. How do you get the balance right between the professionals, the managers and the politicians. Should the professionals run the service because they know best or should managers because resources are scarce and budgets finite or politicians/ councillors... Voir plus

The government wants you back. A lot was invested in your training. You gained valuable experience which we could really use now.   Under the banner of " all managers to be leaders" a management development programme was commissioned around executive coaching, mentoring and management learning sets. What was unique about this was that it was systematic, it was to involve all managers ( and latterly people who aspired to be managers) it was deliver throughout  in partnership with two management consultants over... Most whistleblowers on bad practise and abuse are not board members or senior managers they are front line staff reporting concerns about colleagues having failed to get their line manager to take the matter seriously. But what happens when a higher up does listen? From my experience if the whistleblower wants management to take action they have to be prepared to make a signed statement and... Voir plus

It is assumed that you acquire political awareness and sensitivity on your way up the career ladder and if you don't then you don't move up. Managers are all too often left to learn by their mistakes. Unfortunately in a political environment  those mistakes may mean that members lose confidence in them making the manager considerably less effective.   Despite... Voir plus
