Fiona Elder Il y a 9 années Universal Credit has been available in Inverness for some time as we are part of the pilot project. While I dont work in this sector I do have very strong views on the new 'benefit'. My son was involved in a serious car accident nearly 3 years ago and suffered a massive brain trauma. We have dealt with most of the subsequesnt problems which came from this; suicidal tendancies and severe depression being the latest. Acting on some official guidance we were told that he should seek advice from the DWP (he is 21 now) and on trying to access information on what benefit he could access he was 'shoehorned' into applying for Universal Credit without any proper consultation - the end result is that he was terrified and has never set foot back into a DWP office to seek further advice. Whilst we arent looking for the state to support him, I am more than happy to keep my son and give him a living allowance - which I have been doing for nearly 3 years now - he is losing out on getting his stamp paid for him and he doesnt appear in the 'system'. This is a diabolical 'benefit' and needs to be reviewed immediately and not rolled out as a 'one benefit fits all'. 1 Répondre en tant que ... Annuler
