Village Boundary Reviews - as an SPD?
Our authority was planning on incorporating a review of village boundaries as part of our site specific AAP. Someone mentioned the possibility of producing an SPD to cover the village boundary reviews. Does anyone know if this can / has been done? From reading PPS12 where it states land cannot be allocated in an SPD I’d think not. Does anyone know differently or know of any authorities that have gone down the SPD route for village boundary reviews? Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks.
If Core Strategy policies and site allocations are clear enough, it may not be necessary to have village boundaries (except in the Green Belt if not 'washed over', but the policy context is different there) - not all Local Plans use them. If it is considered necessary to adopt, retain or amend them, I think the fact that they would go on the proposals map implies that they would be a DPD matter.
