Our authority will need to release green belt to meet development needs to 2026. PPG2 (para 2.12) advises that in making such releases account should be taken of development needs beyond 2026 and, if necessary, safeguarded land should be identified . RSS does not provide guidance on development after 2026 and a strategic review of the Sub-regional green belt to which RSS refers has not taken place. If the authority progressed its Core Strategy without having regard to long term green belt there is clearly a risk involved. Does anyone have experience of this situation being examined and what was the outcome?
