Community Infrastructure

We are planning for an urban extension. We are looking into community issues now - new facilities, cohesion, multifunctional uses of health centres and schools etc. Is anyone doing anything similar? What approach have you used? Any examples out there of what has worked or not worked? Any suggestions for a site visit or chat to someone with experience? Thanks

There are a number of similar examples but at a smaller site scale in the case studies section of the Culture and Sport Planning Toolkit. The Toolkit was developed by Living Places, a partnership of the Government cultural and sport agencies and has a lot of useful information including a 5-stage prcess for delivering culture and sport provision. So have a look on www.-living-places.org.uk The TCPA will be organising a series of regional seminars for Living Places to promote the Toolkit and best practice in culture and sport planning. You can visit the website for bookings etc- www.tcpa.org.uk.

Re: Community Infrastructure

We are about to publish a DPD allocating two urban extensions - these went to planning committee last week (19/8/09), and you can see them at www.middevon.gov.uk via the committee agendas and minutes link. The relevant towns are Tiverton and Cullompton. Work on Infrastructure Planning was important to our decisions on the issues, and out first stab at an infrastructure plan is within that report too. I suggest that you contact Tim Chapman at ATLAS ( whom I used to work with) who will be able to advise you on work he has been doing.
