Green Belt - Original Dwelling

I would be grateful for your help please. My client has a property which was a residential dwelling with ancillary outbuildings prior to being acquired by the MOD in 1945. Sometime later @ 1980, the MOD sold the land and property to a private owner and it was reused for residential purposes. The land and buildings have been used ever since for residential purposes. For the purposes of GB policy - is the original dwelling deemed to be the residential dwelling and ancillary outbuildings when the property first became residential post 1948 - in this case @ 1980? many thanks Mark

Re: Green Belt - Original Dwelling

Have a look at the local plan policy for development in the green belt, it very often sets out there the LPAs interpretation of 'original dwelling'. I would imagine that in this instance the original dwelling is that which existed at the time of the GB designation or at 1st July 1948. Do you know what the MOD used the building for?
