Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas

The latest example of bullish Senior management thinking is from the Chief Executive of P&O who in a Commons hearing said there was no point in consulting  because ,  “ no Union could accept our proposals”. This is not the first time I have heard a Chief Executive state there is no point in consulting employees because we know they won’t agree but we are doing it any way.  Justified as in the best interests of the business/organisation. And express in the disrespectful phrase , “Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas “.

I think if they were honest they would admit that they simply didn’t want the hassle of fronting up their decision. Employees are owed the respect of a senior manager telling them the bad news face to face, not by text or video and they are entitled to express their frustration and disappointment in the hearing of those responsible for making the decision.
