The almost human manager

In 1970 when studying the effects of the appearance of robots , the Japanese robotics professor   Masahiro Mori discovered something strange was going on . The more human a robot looked the more people demonstrated empathy towards it up to a certain point at which they felt a strong revulsion. When the robot was almost human people found it most disturbing. This was because they treated it as human only to find it had all the usual deficiencies of a robot, no sense of humour, no loyalty, no empathy, no passion , no values only relentless logic and the pursuit of efficiencies .

The more human a manager behaved the more people demonstrated loyalty towards them up to a certain point at which they felt a strong revulsion. When the manager was almost human people found it most disturbing. This was because they treated the manager as human only to find the individual had all the usual deficiencies of a senior manager no sense of humour, no loyalty , no empathy, no passion , no professional values  only relentless ambition and the pursuit of efficiencies .
