Carbon Literacy - Public Forum - Give Back Greener

Hi,    

I’m Will and I lead on the development of Carbon Literacy’s Civil Service work. 

Carbon Literacy enables employers to deliver a day's worth of practical and relevant climate action training that maximises the learners' ability & motivation to contribute to tackling the climate crisis. As part of the training, all learners commit to taking two significant carbon reduction actions within their own control and successful learners are certified as Carbon Literate.  

Our Civil Service Toolkit   is designed to be a flexible and adaptable framework for the purpose of certified Carbon Literacy training for civil servants. It provides civil servants with the tools to explore how they can best implement climate policy in their day-to-day decision making and role. The materials are partly co-written by BEIS and have been piloted by BEIS and the Office of Government Property. It is currently deployed at BEIS, the Office of Government Property, DfT and FCDO, with DEFRA, DCMS and HMCTS starting training shortly.   The Department for Education has also committed to accelerate the rollout of Carbon Literacy training to at least one sustainability lead in every locally maintained nursery, school, college and university in England by 2023.   

Following the release of the Toolkit,  Speak Carbon    are offering open Carbon Literacy training for all Civil Servants.
