The recent inclement weather has again given councils the opportunity to test how effective Twitter hashtags can be in communicating with residents; providing timely, easy-to-keep-track-of updates on gritted roads and also responding to geo-specific queries from Twitter followers.
However, is Twittergritter the only practical example of when this type of use of hashtags by councils works?...
