The 2015/16 NCMP guidance for data sharing and analysis provides information on further analyses that may be undertaken on the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) datasets in order to: produce a regional or local overview of the data; obtain a better understanding of the epidemiology of child obesity and overweight within an area; feedback useful information to school nursing teams, schools, or other partners, ensuring confidentiality of the data; help improve future participation and data quality in the NCMP. Further analysis of the NCMP dataset is optional. This guidance is designed to support those local authorities and other organisations that wish to undertake additional investigation of the data. It covers: an overview of the analyses provided by PHE and the HSCIC; how to access the NCMP dataset; which NCMP data can be shared between organisations; guidance on the appropriate use of the NCMP dataset to comply with data protection and disclosure rules caveats associated with the NCMP data and its interpretation; suggestions for regional and local analyses; suggestions for local data quality checks.
