The LGA sent a survey out to local planning authorities relating to permitted development rights a couple of weeks ago. The aim of the survey is to enable us to develop an accurate evidence base on the impact of a number of permitted development rights allowing change of use to housing without the need for planning permission. This will inform our lobbying and advocacy work, and be used in our discussions with Ministers about whether their changes have been a success, and about their interest in widening permitted development rights further. The initial deadline is 29 June 2018 (but we will be extending this for another couple of weeks). The survey was sent to heads of planning.
