I'd like to make PAS forum members aware that Historic England has
published a Guide to Historic Environment Records (HERs) in England.

The guidance sets out how an HER host authority needs to ensure that
an HER record is kept up-to-date with accurate information in order to
meet the requirements of the NPPF; resulting in an improved
information base and support for the planning system.
It underpins the HER Audit Programme managed by Historic England.
This guidance was prepared by Historic England and the Association of
Local Government Archaeological Officers (ALGAO-UK HER Committee). We
hope it will prove a useful tool for the HER community and others with
an interest in the historic environment of England.
