Bi-Fold colour Permitted development

Bi-Fold colour Permitted development

A client has installed bi-folds into an extension in a charcoal grey colour. The extension is build under permitted development.

The windows and patio door (patio door has been removed) in house are your usual white uPVC windows with a white uPVC door. There are velux windows in the main roof which are the usual dark grey coloured roof lights.

Would you consider this to conform or not conform with A.3 of the GPDO?

RE: Bi-Fold colour Permitted development

On the facts here I'm going to say yes it would conform, but although there are only two possible answers to your question there are lots of different ways of getting to either. Technically, despite the main windows being white, they could be considered 'similar' anyway. And since there are already windows (rooflights) with grey frames as well, that seals it for me. Even if it was a 'no'  I can't imagine it would be expedient to take enforcement action in most cases.

But ultimately it's a matter of opinion, and at this stage the only one that matters is the LPA's.

RE: Bi-Fold colour Permitted development

I do agree John, and those were my thoughts too.

I did wonder whether there was any case history where this has been an issue.
