The Workforce Strategy
Team (LGA) has held some early discussions with the Royal
Town Planning Institute (RTPI) to discuss the replacement of
the Level 3 Construction Technical and Professional
framework which will be withdrawn on the 30th July 2020. At
an initial meeting held between the RTPI, providers and some
employers, it was agreed to carry out some initial scoping
work to identify requirements and demand for employers for
the development of a Level 3 standard.
Before we ask Local
Authorities to commit to the trailblazer, RTPI have produced
number of questions they would like to ask to get a better
understanding of demand for the standard and how it would be
used. We would be grateful if Local Authorities could answer
the following questions:

What sort
of roles/job titles would this apprenticeship be for?
Are these distinct from someone working as a planner?

What is the
broad purpose of someone working in this role?

What sort
of duties would someone undertaking this role have?

Would you
expect someone completing a level 3 apprenticeship to
work in a technician/support role or progress to working
as a planning officer?
