Removing a Designated Neighbourhood Area

Hi all and I hope everyone is well.

Not my area this and asking in case anyone has come across it. Can you de-allocate/undesignate a 'Designated Neighbourhood Area' and if so where is the mechanism set out?

I know you can extend boundaries, add in areas, merge them. But can you remove them?

The issue is that we have an area which was designated as a Neighbourhood Forum were going to do a Plan, but they then decided not to and folded.  So there is no Forum. No one to ask to remove the designation.

We are required by NPPF para 65 to set housing requirements for designated neighbourhood areas but there seems no point in this case.

The group was set up to resist development rather than support/promote it and they have now disbanded.

Many thanks

Jon
