Advertisement Trailers adjacent to the Highway - Name & Shame

The PAS guidance on signage adjacent to a motorway is very good – with the obvious exceptions that anything regarding enforcement that DCLG suggest is bound to be as much use as the proverbial chocolate fireguard. Regional databases of offenders are uncommon, not used and not a deterrent. As a frequent traveller of the motorway network I see in most places far from adverts numbers diminishing and being removed, the opposite with trailers and now more often whole vehicles parked up in fields as adverts. Maybe a way to get rid of this problem is to not have a register of offenders – but a PAS name and shame list of LPA’s who simply don’t do anything ! Yes we all have priorities and are over worked, but to have a field used for adverts for years next to the motorway, is just poor enforcement.
