Class A1 to Class A5 Uses

I'd be interested to know whether anyone has sought to argue that Greggs, Subway or the like fall within Class A5 as opposed to Class A1 (or Sui Generis as opposed to Class 1 if in Scotland). If you did were you successful?

I certainly hold the view that Subway is a change of use and is more akin to a cafe and/or takeaway than A1. I am also aware that at least one other authority holds this same view. I have raised a series of questions with individual units in our borough although have never felt it expedient to pursue it to notice. I think that the widespread nature of the operation and size of the company puts many off, sadly.
