Chapel of rest

A query regarding a funeral home and chapel of rest. I am aware that funeral directors would constitute as A1 however a number of articles state that the chapel of rest would be classed as Sui Generis. After researching this topic is seems that in some cases it has been classed as ancillary to the A1 use and in other cases it has been classed as a separate use. Please could someone clarify if it is ancillary or if it requires permission in its own right?

Chapel of rest

I suggest as always it will come down to the primary use. A funeral director's which as part of the overall service offers a small facility (room) for laying out the body prior to the funeral would be A1.

A separate chapel of rest as you may traditionally find in cemetries is going to be sui generis.
